Deirdre Briscoe brings decades of experience in military service, federal civil service, human services, disability advocacy, and community volunteerism. Throughout her career, she has worked with people from many different backgrounds and walks of life, giving her firsthand experience with the challenges facing individuals, families, veterans, children, people with disabilities, and other members of our communities.

​

Her professional and volunteer experience includes:

​

  • United States Air Force and Air National Guard — 1982–2007: Served more than 23 years in military service.

  • Desert Shield/Desert Storm Veteran: Served in Saudi Arabia during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

  • Federal Civilian Service: Worked for more than 14 years as a federal civilian employee.

  • Social Services Specialist: Assisted individuals and families seeking SNAP, child care, medical, and other public benefits.

  • Mental Health Client Support Specialist: Provided direct support and care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

  • Suicide Prevention Specialist:  Provided crisis intervention and support to individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts or emotional distress through a suicide prevention hotline.

  • Child Welfare Specialist: Worked to help protect the safety and well-being of abused and neglected children.

  • Disability Program Manager: Served as a Base Disability Program Manager at a major military installation, working to identify and reduce barriers to the hiring, advancement, and promotion of people with disabilities.

  • Substitute Teacher in Public Schools:  Worked to help students get a better education.

  • LGBTQ+ Pride Council President: Served as president of an LGBTQ+ Pride Council at a major military installation.

  • Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA): Volunteered as an advocate for children in foster care.

  • Oklahoma Department of Corrections Mentor: Volunteered as a mentor to incarcerated women.

  • Youth Homeless Shelter Mentor: Volunteered with young people experiencing homelessness.

  • Adult Homeless Shelter Volunteer and Mentor: Volunteered in a shelter baggage room while also providing mentorship and support to adults experiencing homelessness.

  • Veteran Claims Advocate: Volunteered to assist veterans with navigating the process of seeking benefits and submitting claims.

  • Girl Scout Leader: Volunteered to mentor girls to be leaders 
     

These experiences have placed Deirdre alongside Americans at very different points in their lives—from military members and veterans to working families, foster children, people with disabilities, individuals experiencing homelessness, and people seeking a second chance.
 

Her career has included service in uniform, service as a federal civilian employee, and service within her community. Together, these experiences have shaped her understanding of government not simply as an institution, but as something that directly affects the everyday lives of the people it serves.
 

Deirdre's background reflects a career centered on service, responsibility, advocacy, and working directly with people. As she begins her 2028 presidential campaign, she brings those experiences and perspectives to her vision for the country.
